Clay Steell works as a lab coordinator in the department of Renewable Resources. He has been a NASA member since starting work at the U of A, and has sat on the Political Action and Member Education Committee since 2018, where he learned more about our union and the relevant issues facing labour in Alberta. Before working at the UofA, he was a steward for CUPE 4600 at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he did his M.Sc in biology. He has a background in journalism and campus organizing, having led and volunteered in climate justice and sustainability initiatives, and has also chaired committees for his previous student union. He is a strong believer in the importance of unions to their members' interests and to society at large, and hopes to help support NASA in any way he can.
